Paper Castle Press is the brainchild of Sophie Ward. Based in New York it is an online and in-print publishing house that is focused on discovering the most progressive writers and creatives and exposing them to a like-minded audience. In their own words: "we are focused on sourcing grass roots individualism and regenerating a culture of free thinking rebellion through writing, illustration, photography and other forms of paper bound expressions of modern identity."
The website has a blog section with a myriad of Paper Castle writers contributing, and far from being the usual throwaway, seven-second soundbites, each post is structurally sound, thematically interesting and engagingly written. A post titled 'The Legacy of Philosophy' for example, discusses the relationship between changes in technology, the kind of information we are consuming, and how that information is manifesting a culture which is dangerous to the overall intelligence of our Generation. Ward tracks this progression through important historical moments and suggests that we currently face an information precipice. These are not the newest or grandest of musings, but they are written in such an honest and articulate manner that one believes their intentions, making every post that much more powerful.
Ward has also written a book, The Beginning of an Inexplicable Journey, which is available for download.
