Since 2010, Belgian model Anouk Lepere has visited the isolated village of Banda in Southwest Rwanda as part of a charitable organisation, Kageno, set up in 2003 to establish opportunity in otherwise poverty-ravaged locations. NOWNESS commissioned photographer Dana Lixenberg to document Lepere's latest trip to the area, where she is organising a collaboration between the local women and French accessories brand Repossi to create a series of jewellery pieces. The pieces will be sold in Colette in Paris and Barneys New York and 70% of the proceeds will go to the Kageno Foundation. Have a look at some of the images below and head HERE to read Lepere's full diary.
