Australian designer Natalie Wood, with her labels Something and Something Else, creates the kind of eclectic, ephemeral pieces that are both wearable - lots of t-shirting, and floaty, chiffon layering - but also emotive and theme oriented, whether it's her choice of fabric, her artist collaborations or a print. For Winter 2011 she enlisted the deft touch of yet another Askill, Lorin. If you've heard the surname before it's not surprising, brother Daniel is a prolific film maker - as his recent collaboration with Ksubi 'Colours' and his award-winning triptych We Have Decided Not To Die demonstrates - while Jordan Askill is a jewellery designer who - among other, far more wearable pieces - created the gothic skull pieces for the 'We Want War' video-clip by These New Puritans (which Daniel shot).
Lorin Askill's style has much in common with her brothers; Castaway deals with natural elements - and our interaction with them - in both a rugged and beautiful way.
