MONDAY FAVOURITES - FASHION ROUND-UP with COURTNEY SANDERS

— Posted on 12.03.2012

Well, I had a busy weekend doing lots of fashion related stuff, but because I can't show you that until later in the week we'll have to do make do with what everyone else has been up to. Boring. Jokes! International fashion is exciting, right.

First up, the magazine we discuss far too much, Dazed and Confused, have released images (and probably the actual issue in the UK - sigh) of their April 2012 cover and it's got fashion/music crossover nymph of the moment Grimes A.K.A Claire Boucher, wearing Givenchy couture jewellery and sans bright pink hair. Her short, blunt fringe is still cute as a button, as is her personality (I was lucky enough to chat to her on the phone and will update this post later in the week when that goes live) as is her video clip for 'Oblivion' which came out (and we blogged about) last week. Ripping out sports fans has never been so entertaining to watch.

Miu Miu revealed their Autumn / Winter 2012-13 collection at Paris Fashion Week late last week and I just, don't, know. What do you think?

An (almost) entire collection of suits? I do like the various textured, patterned and coloured fabrications. All luscious and seventies, it simultaneously reminds me of an eighty year-old couple who while away their days smoking cigarettes and drinking whisky in a sun room AND Inspector Gadget. I enjoy both these mental images almost as much as I enjoy the Oriental-inspired 'flatforms' but I can't help but feel this isn't Miuccia's most imaginative work? Remember this? And doesn't this most recent just feel like a cleaner re-hash of this? I don't think this collection has the frivolity to be Miu Miu; perhaps they should have made something like this Prada collection Miu Miu and these suits part of a Prada collection? I've just really confused myself so I'll leave you with this:

In the double tradition of MAC effortlessly tapping the zeitgeist and more mature models once again becoming the coolest thing out, Kristen McMenamy has collaborated with the make-up brand for a capsule collection. The set of products - which hits stores on April 30th - is high saturation, high impact and I suggest you wear without anything but a fur shawl, a la the campaign, shot by Miles Aldridge:

In local news, Ruby and Liam have set up shot in a forest. Kidding! It just looks that way because The Department Store have taken The Selby's fauna-trend-setting imagery to heart with their jungle-inspired interior design. The two local brands are upstairs beside Topshop. What do ya think? Looks pretty good, right?

Finally, the 'Secretaries' from Kate Sylvester's Winter 2012 collection will be hiding under desks and being spanked in Britomart over High Street now as the brand has moved their flagship to the new, downtown development. The only photo I could find of the fit-out that didn't have anyone in it is this...

...which I realise isn't particularly informative, so if you want to people-watch, head over to the Kate Sylvester Facebook. Colin Mathura Jeffree is looking like, totally hot.
