Most of us are used to spending a few seconds on a web page before moving on to our multiple tabs and multiple snippets of information. It's a testament to forthcoming film Sound of my Voice, then, that I couldn't look away (couldn't check Facebook, couldn't Tweet) for the first twelve minutes, which are currently being previewed over on the film's website.
Following the success of Elizabeth Olsen's breakthrough film Martha Marcy May Marlene comes another feature about cults and the bizarre, intoxicating behaviour and mindset that occur within them. In Sound of My Voice, two investigative journalists - Christopher Denham and Nicole Vicius played by Peter Aitken and Lorna Michaelson - infiltrate a mysterious group in The Valley in L.A led by the enigmatic and apparently futuristic 'Maggie' (played by Brit Marling). Once the couple have been initiated bizarre (and criminal) acts start to take place as psychological manipulation on 'Maggie's' part begins to take hold.
Check out the trailer, below, and watch the first twelve minutes over here.
