I love when public holidays fall on the weekend and get transferred to the Monday and we get four days off work. I'm sitting at home writing Monday Favourites in front of 10 Things I Hate About You, drinking coffee and whiling away my day simultaneously crushing on Heath and watching hilarious YouTube videos. Productive! It's only fair then that I dedicate at least the start of this post to the holiday that has allowed for such fruitful entertainment. Because the Dawkins-loving Athiest in me can't begin to muse on the religious connotations of this holiday and the ridiculousness that is a secular Western society legislating against the sale of alcohol because of Jesus, let us instead focus on eggs! Bunnies! Sweet treats! Tim Walker has consistently utilized all these talisman in much of his editorial over the years - including his work for Mulberry - and so without further ado, to Tim Walker / Easter / Pastels:
As a side note I watched Brighton Rock the other night and it's nice to see the candy bar of the same name employed to denote happiness and holidays instead of being used to beat / suffocate someone to death.
Pureyors of fashion minimalism Cos and Madewell have both released their seasonal, Alexa Chung-less collections recently. Cos' attention to cutting is phenomenal for such a reasonably-priced line as their series of cropped pants, sixties overcoats and pencil skirts sit perfectly, pintucks and all, in a series of pleasantly dull pastels (beige, hospital green, mustard).
Madewell's presentation kind of reminds me of a Farmer's window but there's a few covetable pieces draped across the headless manequins, a brown backpack being the highlight.
Tavi Gevinson has officially added actress-slash-singer to her repertoire in the promotional video for Wren's Winter 2012-13 collection. In the clip, directed by Sarah Sophie Flicker and styled by Lula Editor in Chief Leith Clark, Gevinson wanders around in cute dresses singing 'Beware of Young Girls' by Dovy Previn which is apparently about an affair Previn's husband had with 24 year old Mia Farrow. Happy Holidays!
