Ever since visiting Amoeba Records in both L.A and San Francisco (where I got to watch Black Rebel Motorcycle Club perform in-store, no biggie) I've been obsessed with a series on the Amoeba website in which the store asks musicians and other creatives to select their favourite albums and discuss them. Harking back to the days when record stores were a place of social mingling for similarly-inclined people, the 'What's In My Bag' feature gives an insight into the cultural inspirations and cornerstones for people creating today and explanations as to why these things are important. Watch Lena Dunham (writer and star of Tiny Furniture and Girls) and Lesley Arfin (self-indulgent columnist, writer) pick out The Lemonheads, The Magnetic Fields and, um, The Others.
