When we found out Kate Sylvester had based her Summer 2012-13 collection on Jane Eyre, we squealed with joy recounting one Mr. Michael Fassbender, as Mr. Rochester, desperately screaming 'Jaaaaane' through a window into an empty field. But the world isn't all about our obsession, and this collection places precedence on Jane Eyre herself: an independent, determined creature living at a time when such a disposition was considered less than ideal.
Silk lounge wear, lace detail and brooches suggest the 19th century, while shots of scarlet and evocative lace-up platforms suggest the rebellious nature of Eyre herself and the kind of woman Sylvester always evokes in her collections. Check out our favourite pieces from the look book, below.
