OH MY GOD HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE A FILM LIKE THIS CAME OUT?
Emma Watson as a sassy, but complicated girl who does wild & madcap things like stand on cars! A shy boy who wants to be a writer! Imagine! And their camp, witty pal who is always cracking jokes! They are all friends growing up together! Figuring out who they are! Together! Best friends! The most exciting part? PAUL RUDD IS THEIR ENGLISH TEACHER. If Paul Rudd worked at my school, and talked to me about books I wouldn’t need any stupid friends. I’d have everything. I feel like that would be a better plot for this film? The moral would be that if you get to see Paul Rudd everyday, you’ll want for nothing else. Then at the end you become a writer, and Paul hires you to help him write Bill Murray’s biography. Or something.
Anyway. We all know I’ll watch this film and probably cry a bit as the last bar of the teenage power ballad rings out, to indicate they’re all really happy with being themselves. That's maybe because, in some ways, the plot reminds us all of something JK Rowling once wrote.
